2013 Festival - The Bus Depot

In 2013, the RVA Street Art Festival returned with a massive project at an unused trolley depot in the heart of Richmond’s Fan District. The festival covered thousands of feet of wall in murals on multiple acres across the the former industrial complex. While continuing to work with a roster of internationally renowned artists such as Andrew Schoultz, Hense, and Pablo Harymbrat (among others), the festival opened up the walls to a wide array of local and regional artists, eventually involving over 100 visual artists painting murals. This festival gave many artists their first chance to paint a wall, including Andre Shank, Nikki Leone, and Hampton Boyer; all of whom have become well known since their inclusion in the festival. Over the course of a weekend in September, thousands of visitors were able to experience the creation of the art as well as view temporary sculpture installations, interactive photo pin-hole installations, along with tons of local bands, skateboarding, food and craft beer. This site has since been redeveloped, and the murals painted over, but the legacy and impact lives on.
